Catering for Mahathir Science Award Scientific Lecture

Lusiana Catering has catered the Mahathir Science Award 2007 Scientific Lecture, held at University Malaya on 12 April 2008. The award is Malaysia’s most prestigious science award for tropical sciences bestowed on any scientist, institution or organization worldwide in recognition of contributions and innovations towards solving problems in the tropics through science and technology.

Mahathir Science Award 2007 is conferred to Professor Joseph Sriyal Malik Peiris, Chair Professor at the University of Hong Kong and Scientific Director at the HKU-Pasteur Research Centre in Hong Kong. The award is conferred in recognition of his discovery of the aetiological agent causing SARS leading to the understanding of pathogenesis and epidemiology of the disease in 2003.

The lecture was organized by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (www.akademisains.gov.my), attended by 130 participants. The academy is a body set up with a mission that encompasses pursuit, encouragement and enhancement of excellence in the fields of science, engineering and technology for the development of the nation and the benefit of mankind.
